Snowy Morn finished!

Finally got Snowy Morn finished this afternoon which I'm very happy about. The outer border was holding me up as I needed some proper daylight to complete it. The thread colour was disappearing into the fabric otherwise. I'm quite pleased with how it's all turned out. My favourite area is still the inner border with the feathering effect of the threads.

Stash!!!

Boy, when I order stash, do I go overboard sometimes! My way of thinking is that if I order a lot of things at the one time, I save on postage. Plus there's too many lovely things out there and I do find it hard to wait for them.

This leads me to the picture below. I did a big order from Stitching Bits and Bobs and most of it arrived in the mail today.

Parcel from Stitching Bits and Bobs

I've just taken a quick photo of it all. I got some fabrics, charts, and threads. I'm mad for Blackbird Designs at the moment, so there's a few of their patterns. The threads are mainly for these charts. Some more LHN/CCN - I don't seem to do an order lately without getting more of their designs. There's also some Prairie Schooler charts which I'm not normally into, but the odd one has caught my eye lately.

I dropped my camera on the floor tonight trying to take a photo of my stash parcel. I must have been so excited to receive my stash! Thankfully my camera seems to be ok. I was so annoyed with myself for not being more careful.

I better hop off this computer soon and head off to bed. Can't stay up too late as tomorrow's a work day. Before I go I'll show you a pic of Snowy Morn. I did some work on it last weekend but the light was getting bad for me to continue with the outer border. Will try to finish it this Sunday if I can when I've got some proper daylight. The colour of the thread against the fabric was making it hard to see where I was putting my stitches.

Another WIP pic to show

I got some more work done on Snowy Morn today. Here's my latest pic...

Snowy Morn - 10 May 2008

All that's left now to do is the last block on the inner border, then I've got the outer border to do including four corner blocks, and the last thing I'll do is add the beads to the inner border. It will probably take me another two more sessions to finish.

I really like this design. It's not a very big one, but more in it than you would think. The four inner corner blocks are done over one thread which I haven't done before. You need good lighting for this as it's quite intricate work. Trying to decide whether to order Jill Rensel's mat once I finish it. It would really do it justice I think.

Another pic to show

Thought I'd try scanning my latest WIP picture instead of taking a photo with my camera. I think it's turned out much clearer. Lately I've been using my camera because it's so easy to grab, and neglecting the fact that my scanner can do good pictures too. As usual I didn't get a lot done today with Snowy Morn, but any progress is good progress in my opinion.

Snowy Morn - 3 May 2008 (scanned image)

I've started doing one of the outside borders. It's a simple process of stitches but looks really effective. It's my favourite part of the design. When you see the finished picture, this border seems to draw your eye to it.

I'm not getting good quality stitching time at the moment. Just a couple of hours here and there, so I'm trying to get done what I can, when I can. I don't have a deadline, so there's no hurry. I don't like it if I have to have something finished by a certain date anyway. I like to just take my time (not just with stitching too). That's just my nature.

Stitching and chocolate

I thought I'd get a little more progress done on Snowy Morn tonight. It's quite a pretty little design and I'm quite enjoying it. Have now finished the heart and the next stage I'm up to are the borders.

Snowy Morn - 2 May 2008

While stitching I devoured a few Lindt chocolate balls. I love these, and discovered last night while at a department store that they were on sale. So of course I had to buy one or two boxes.:) What can I say? I love chocolate!!!

Have a great weekend!

A little more Snowy Morn progress

Worked some more on Snowy Morn tonight for about 1 1/2 hours. Didn't get a lot done but I wanted to at least show another progress pic.

Snowy Morn - 30 April 2008

The weather here has turned quite cold. You would think it was Winter not Autumn. I didn't really pick this design to do because of the weather, but now I'm thinking it's quite appropriate.

I've got a number of things on order from a few places at the moment. Some are taking longer than I thought they would, but hopefully they'll arrive soon. I know, I can't help myself! The stash bug has hit again.:) I keep telling myself to cut down, but do you think I listen? Will show you some pics when they arrive.

More Snowy Morn

I did a little bit more work on Snowy Morn last night. Normally I don't feel like stitching at night time but lately I haven't minded it. I use my Ott-lite which is a great help.

Snowy Morn with Putford scissors

The fabric which comes with the kit is 32ct Dirty Linen. I love the idea of Shepherd's Bush kits because they include everything needed, so you can complete the whole design without having to find fabric, buttons, and threads elsewhere. Plus their instructions are fairly easy to follow.

I'm looking forward to doing the border on this one. It looks interesting. Hope it's not too difficult! :)

Snowy Morn started

I started on Snowy Morn last night. Thought I'd start in the centre with the snowman.

SHEPHERD'S BUSH - Snowy Morn started 25 April 2008

This kit is designed by Tina Richards Herman of Shepherd's Bush in 1996. I haven't had the kit in my stash since then, but I did purchase it a number of years ago. I think I'm going to like working on this one. :)

Dashing to the finish line

The reveal is here!

OK, so it's not Christmas, but who cares? My little project that I've completed is Shepherd's Bush Dashing kit (which they actually call Reindeer Bag). I knew it wasn't going to take me long to do this one. I stitched it Wednesday night after I got home from work. I was really in a stitching mood and wasn't going to let the moment slip. So I decided to get it out (as I'd already chosen to do this one next) and do it that night. It took about 3 1/2 hours to complete and was a little finicky at times but quite a joy to do. The design itself is very easy, but having to manoeuvre within the confines of the bag was sometimes a test. It's the first design that I've had to stitch in hand, as I normally do my stitching with a hoop. Great little quickie to do though.

SHEPHERD'S BUSH - Dashing finished 23 April 2008

I was going over my stash last night trying to think of what to do next and I'm probably going to stitch another Shepherd's Bush called Snowy Morn. I love the dark colours in this one.

SHEPHERD'S BUSH - Snowy Morn kitted

Well, I better go and have some lunch and then get some cleaning done around the house. It's a public holiday today (ANZAC Day) so I'm home when I'd usually be at work. Better not waste the whole day on the computer. :)
