It's Almost Complete

I got a decent amount done by my standards yesterday on BK&BT. I'm now down to a few leaves on the right of the tree, five more letters, and just the rest of the border to go. I think I'll try to finish it off tomorrow!

BE KIND & BE TRUE - 6 March 2010 (SAL with Melissa)

I love the colours Brenda has chosen for this pattern and it's been a delight to see it unfold.

There's a new movie out called Dear John, and I went to see it today. Wonderful! A really lovely movie that held your interest throughout. I didn't cry but my eyes may have had the slightest tear towards the end. It could have kept going where it ended but was left up to you to imagine what would have happened. Not a horrid war movie either as these don't appeal to me. So try and see it if you can.

Welcome also to those new to my blog, I hope you enjoy visiting. To those loyal followers, thank you for your friendship and kind interest in my needlework. It's a pleasure to share this wonderful hobby with you.

Stacy Nash ~ First Kit for 2010 Girl Club

I'm still in the SN Girl Club for the moment and I received her first kit for 2010 recently. It's a heart needlebook and the fabrics you get with the kit are just divine. The red patterned fabric that goes inside already has an aged tone to it and the red piece of wool is wonderfully soft.

Here's some pictures I've made up to show you the kit...

Stacy Nash Group Kit - Country Sampler Heart Needlebook

There maybe some places left if you're interested in joining this group. I know they had some at the start of the year. Contact Jeanne at Country Sampler if you're interested. Just be aware that if you're wanting to order other items from her shop to be sent with your next kit, you may not be successful. It also ends up being pricey when the kit alone is sent out if you're from overseas.

On another note, I went to see It's Complicated at the pictures on Sunday. I am happy to say I loved it! So many little funny moments throughout. Meryl Streep's acting was wonderful (just a look on her face and you knew exactly what she was thinking), and the setting of the movie was lovely. She lived on this large property in a character filled house, and had the most perfect looking vegetable garden I've seen. A really enjoyable movie, I'm so glad I got to see it.

Happy Valentine's Day

I hope everyone has a lovely Valentine's Day today. I'm going to the pictures this afternoon to see It's Complicated. I probably should be seeing Valentine's Day instead but I've been wanting to see It's Complicated ever since I heard about it earlier last year. There's supposed to be some very funny bits in it and a very twisted romantic situation. I'll let you know what it's like.

Here's some more updated photos of Angel In Your Heart. Thanks for your thoughts about the yellow threads. I've decided to go with the lighter DMC which most of you liked and am very happy with how it looks.

Angel In Your Heart - 13 February 2010

Some people have been asking me where I got this chart from. I purchased it through Stitching Bits and Bobs last year. I think I may have just stumbled across it and loved the look and colours of it. Even though I've changed most of the threads, I've still kept to the original colour scheme of the chart.

Well enjoy a wonderful Valentine's Day and I hope there's a bit of romance for those of you who has a Valentine in your life. Those of us who haven't, it's just another day really - enjoy it anyway!

Mum's finish of It's Berry Time

It was my mother's birthday in September and for a present I gave her BBD It's Berry Time chart kitted up. Since a few of you wanted to see the end result once she'd stitched it, here are some photos of her work for you.

BBD - It's Berry Time (stitched by Mum) with recommended fabric and threads.

This stitched part will become a berry emery.

She thinks she will turn the main piece into a cushion, though like me she enjoys the stitching of a design the most, and takes a while to finish it off as something.

I'm going to the pictures again tomorrow night. This time to see The Time Travelers Wife. I'm looking forward to seeing this one. Eric Bana (from Australia) is in it, and it's a different type of movie for him. He actually started out here as a comedian originally, for those of you who didn't know. Anyway, I'm sure I'll enjoy this movie.

More next time...

2009 Stacy Nash Group ~ last kit for the year

Here's the latest kit from the Stacy Nash 2009 Group. It's a winter mitten done with her traditional style of stitching on the front.

This is how the front and back looks.

Included is a piece of 28ct Flax Linen, muslin, homespun, and a small cut of wool.

Threads are DMC, 829 and 918.

The group is continuing into next year, so if you want to go on the waiting list for when people drop out, then contact Jeanne at the Country Sampler in Wisconsin.

I've completed one of the Bugs in Baby Bug Ball, so I will take some pictures to show you next time.

Tonight I've been to the pictures to see Julie And Julia. Meryl Streep did such a good roll and the movie was enjoyable to watch. I've also seen Couples Retreat recently which I thought average. Too much arguing in it which let it down a bit. Funny yoga session though!

Well, I should be getting to bed as it's a work day tomorrow. Happy stitching til we meet again.

Buzz, Buzz

Do you ever feel like the weekends go by so quickly that you never have enough time to get everything you want done? This is how I'm feeling after the end of another weekend is nearing. If only they made them three days instead of two. One can dream I guess....

So Friday rolled around and I had planned to stitch some more on Queen Bee. I didn't even lift up my needle. After getting home from work and having some tea (dinner), I sat down to watch a bit of TV and started to close my eyes a little. Then a little became a lot, and I ended up nodding off for about an hour! Upon waking up, there was a movie starting called Sleepless In Seattle which I love, so I ended up watching that. So there was not a stitch to be seen on Friday night.

Saturday rolls around and I get some housework done. Meanwhile the weather just starts to get worse and worse, with rain setting in for most of the day. Yippee! Stitching time!! So down I sit and get out that little bee project and away I go. I managed to get the bee done and made a start on the top of the design by completing one of the flowers.

Queen Bee - 29 August 2009

I wonder what all those beads are doing there?

Maybe this is a hint of what's to come...

I'm having so much fun with this design. Please look out for finished photos tomorrow.

~*~* Cast Your Spells ~*~*

I received my third Stacy Nash 2009 Group kit last week, and as I promised to show you, here's a few pictures of it.

Third 2009 Stacy Nash Group kit - Cast Your Spells

I guess you could say it's got a Halloween/Witchy theme to it with its title being Cast Your Spells. Stacy's made the pattern into a pincushion with a striped backing fabric in black and tan. There's also a piece of black wool to place a heart shape on the back of the pincushion.

The linen that the design is stitched on is a flax colour and also included with the kit are three DMC threads.

At first I wasn't sure whether I liked it that much, but once stitched and finished, I think it will look good.

My plan was to stitch each kit as I received them and finish it off before I received the next one. With only one finished so far, two to do, and one left to receive, that theory's gone out the window. I'll do them when the whim takes me. I like to go with the mood I'm in when deciding what project to do next. If I change my mind, that doesn't bother me. It is a hobby after all and is meant to be enjoyed. No use doing something because you feel you 'need' to. You need to 'want' to do it instead.

Before I go, I thought I would mention that I did get to see The Proposal at the cinema yesterday. I loved it! I'm not usually a big fan of Sandra Bullock, but she played a great part in this one. It had a well chosen cast, and Ryan Reynolds was a bit of eye candy for us girls. Lots of funny moments to have a chuckle at too. If you're a fan of romantic comedies (as I am) then get yourself to this one if you haven't already. You won't regret it!

Second edition is out!

Some of you may remember my first edition of Pussy Magazine with my gorgeous Birman cat, Sophie on the cover. Well not to be outdone, my youngest cat, Charlotte had to have a cover shot of her own. I managed to get a suitable picture of her the other day. She was just in the right mood. Here's the long awaited follow up to the first issue...

I managed to come up with a few more article headings. Hope you have a chuckle reading them! Remember, it's just a bit of fun. :)

Another thing I did recently was watch a dvd called Miss Potter. It was so 'delightful'. That's the perfect word for it. I just loved it! It stars Renee Zellweger and Ewan McGregor. Based of the life of Beatrix Potter who was an amazing woman with such talent. It's the type of movie you could watch over and over again. Delightful!
