~*~* Cast Your Spells ~*~*

I received my third Stacy Nash 2009 Group kit last week, and as I promised to show you, here's a few pictures of it.

Third 2009 Stacy Nash Group kit - Cast Your Spells

I guess you could say it's got a Halloween/Witchy theme to it with its title being Cast Your Spells. Stacy's made the pattern into a pincushion with a striped backing fabric in black and tan. There's also a piece of black wool to place a heart shape on the back of the pincushion.

The linen that the design is stitched on is a flax colour and also included with the kit are three DMC threads.

At first I wasn't sure whether I liked it that much, but once stitched and finished, I think it will look good.

My plan was to stitch each kit as I received them and finish it off before I received the next one. With only one finished so far, two to do, and one left to receive, that theory's gone out the window. I'll do them when the whim takes me. I like to go with the mood I'm in when deciding what project to do next. If I change my mind, that doesn't bother me. It is a hobby after all and is meant to be enjoyed. No use doing something because you feel you 'need' to. You need to 'want' to do it instead.

Before I go, I thought I would mention that I did get to see The Proposal at the cinema yesterday. I loved it! I'm not usually a big fan of Sandra Bullock, but she played a great part in this one. It had a well chosen cast, and Ryan Reynolds was a bit of eye candy for us girls. Lots of funny moments to have a chuckle at too. If you're a fan of romantic comedies (as I am) then get yourself to this one if you haven't already. You won't regret it!

I like that project--subtle and soft. I love the ticking fabric. And I'm with you on stitching as suits my mood!

I think the SN project is really cute! I agree wholeheartedly this is not a hobby to be stressed about - do what calls you and enjoy it!

What a cute little pillow - I can't wait to see what you do with your kit. I agree, hobbies are for us to enjoy and to relax us.

I'm glad you enjoyed the movie - I can't wait to see it! My hubby opted for Harry Potter over The Proposal (imagine that :-) ) maybe next weekend.

What a cute SN project! Too bad for me that it's only for the club members. I would have enjoyed stitching that right up!

I'll be seeing The Proposal this Thursday night and looking forward to it.

Jane,

Love your photos. If you don't mind me asking, what type of digital camera do you use (regular point 'n shoot or a SLR with macro lense--your close ups are great!) and do you use a photo editing software?

I'm thinking of starting a blog for my needlework but before I delve into that, I want to be sure I can take pretty pictures of what I want to showcase. Thanks for any tips you can provide!

Laura, the camera I have is a compact one. It's a Canon Ixus 75. I do get some help with photo software also. Apart from what comes with the camera, I use Picasa for sharpening and collages. Hope this helps with your blogging - let me know when you start one up. :)

Thanks Jane! I too have a compact camera so I'm glad to know that you have one as well and can still achieve real good closeups without a macro lense. I think I'm going to run by my local camera shop and get some tips on using it for closeups. I've tried reading the manuel but it's as if it was written in a foreign language!

I'll be sure to let you know when I get a blog up and running. I feel a bit intimidated by the whole process but I have been so inspired by your blogs and a few others (Loreta, Nina, & Nicole to mention just a few) that I think it might be fun to start one too. First I need to get good pictures of my needle work! Thanks again! Have a lovely day!

Hermoso como todo lo que escoge para bordar, admiro su impecable trabajo, las tijeritas de Sheper Bush, hermosas. El lino en el que borda inmejorable. Excelelntes fotos. Un beso.
