A Surprise in the Mail

I came home from work today to find a small packet poking out of my front fence, where the postman had left it near my letter box. First I thought it was some missing items I had ordered months ago, then I looked at the sender's details and discovered it was from my dear stitching/blogging friend, Melissa in Canada! Wow, what a surprise. She's remembered that it's my birthday this month and sent me a small gift to mark the occasion.

Inside was a gorgeous card with a cat on the front (she knows I love cats) and a selection of pink and green silk threads (she also knows I like pink and green together). I love them and what a thoughtful gesture from her.

The threads are from a name called Hand Dyed Fibers which I haven't heard of before. The greens are a silk perle #8 and the pinks are a 6 stranded silk.

Thank you so much, Melissa! You're very thoughtful and they're a beautiful gift. So nice to receive something when you're not expecting it. You made my day!

A Gift For Mum

This is what I'm giving my mother for her birthday this week.

Blackbird Designs Loose Feathers No. 37 - Its Berry Time

I'm giving her Blackbird Designs 'It's Berry Time' chart all kitted up. Included are Crescent Colours threads in Wild Berries to make the main design, and also Bean Sprout along with Ye Old Gold to create the berry. The fabric is an R & R called Iced Cappucino in a 30ct.

I hope she'll like it. She loves needlework designs that are all red, and the baskets in this pattern will capture her eye. I think I'm on a winner here. :)

Drema from Needlecraft Corner, has packaged the kit in a clear plastic bag to keep everything together, so I have left it in this when I took the photos. Perhaps not the best for a good view of the supplies, but I didn't want to open it. I will leave it as it is before I wrap it.

How easy is it to buy something for someone that likes needlework? There's endless ideas out there for them. I'm sure she'll love this one.

An unexpected gift

This is what arrived in the mail today. It's from Melissa and she's sent me a gorgeous card and Stacy Nash chart for my recent birthday. How thoughtful of her and I really wasn't expecting it (especially the chart). She remembered how I have an affinity for all things Americana and that I love Stacy Nash designs, and chose something from this information. It's so kind of her. Thank you so much, Melissa!!

I'm afraid I have no new stitching to show you. I've been quite busy these past few days and haven't even made a start on The Potting Shed. I hope to rectify that soon!

Have fun stitching everyone... until next time.

A special gift

Yesterday I got home to find a small package in the mail box from my dear stitching friend, Nicole. It had inside some goodies (not all I knew I was getting) which put a huge smile on my face. I was so overjoyed to receive them.

I adore the fobs she has shown in her needlework photos on her blog. Now I have received one of them in the post. Thank you so much Nicole! It is so gorgeous and I love the pink coloured jewels. She also included a couple of charts, two DMC thread skeins, and a sweet card. How special I feel :)

A gift from Nicole received on 23 July 2008.

CCN The Needlework Shop chart, LHN Quilting chart, DMC threads 335 & 3716, and a pink jewelled scissor fob made by Nicole.

Now I want to make her something in return. I think I have an idea, but it's going to be a surprise. I'm hoping my limited finishing techniques will be sufficient for this special project. I'm looking forward to making it.
