New stash!

A new stash order came in the mail yesterday. How excited do you think I was? Very!!! Yes, I tend to get a bit joyful when more goodies arrive. I ordered these through The Silver Needle's Superbowl Sale (20% off). Here's just a few of the items I got. Of course I must show you my Shepherd's Bush things. I'll be sure to take some photos of the rest of my order to show next time. Now let's see what there is...

Family Sampler kit, In A Stable chart, Spooky Sheep kit, Glad Tidings Fob kit, My Mom's Garden kit

I was so thrilled to get the Glad Tidings Fob. I ordered this last time and they had sold out. And I just love how it's packaged.

Another thing I was happy I got was the mat for Life And Liberty. I so enjoyed stitching this up and will be excited to get it framed with the lovely Jill Rensel mat.

I have no new stitching to speak of. There's a project I'm thinking of starting but I just have to work out the thread colours I'll be using for it. I'm quite looking forward to doing it and gasp, I'm even contemplating doing it over 1! Must be a sucker for punishment, but I do like the delicateness of stitching this way. Anyway, I'll leave you to ponder what on earth it is that I'm going to do next. You'll never guess, so you may as well give up. :)

First finish for 2009!

Yippee!!! I managed to get Life And Liberty finished last night. All that was needed were the buttons to be added this morning. This done, I'm able to you show some pictures of it.

DESIGNER ~ Shepherd's Bush
PATTERN ~ Life And Liberty
STARTED ~ 26 December 2008
FINISHED ~ 4 January 2009
FABRIC ~ 32ct Antique Ivory
THREADS ~ Au Ver a Soie, Gloriana, Thread Gatherer, and Soie Belle
BUTTONS ~ Just Another Button Company

As you know, I absolutely loved doing this. The size was good for me as it wasn't a huge piece, but big enough to feel as though you've accomplished something. The variegated threads worked well. The greens were lovely (Thread Gatherer - Golden Moss and Williamsburg Green), and the other colours were all so yummy. I enjoy working with silks, and using the recommended one thread at a time gives it that delicate look. And don't you love those buttons? They really add that extra something to Shepherd's Bush designs.
.
What's next, I hear you ask? I'm am spoilt for choice and sometimes that can be a good or a bad thing. There's so many I would like to do. I usually go with what is calling for me. Sometimes I'll get the urge for a design while I'm still stitching one, then other times I'm not sure what I'll do until after I've completed it. Since I loved Life And Liberty so much, I've had French Heart in mind. Then I wasn't sure because it's a bit similar with the scattered pictures. Maybe I should go for something different. I'll have to go and fondle my stash to get the vibe. Whatever I choose I know it will go at a slower pace because I'm back at work tomorrow, and that means less stitching time. :(

Cruising along

This has been so enjoyable but I can see the end is near. I'd like to try to complete it before I go back to work on Monday, which shouldn't be too hard. Then I'll need to think about the next project! :) I've been thinking how lovely the mat would be for this one. May have to try to get it next time I order through The Silver Needle.

If there's any Shepherd's Bush fans out there (I know there are) and if you haven't already, you'll want to do this one. It is so fun, fun, fun!!!

Hello 2009

Well, it's a new year and I hope everyone had a good time celebrating or just having a quiet one. I myself had the latter, but it wasn't boring at all. No, I did a little stash shopping and blog browsing over the coming/going of the years. I was able to get an order through to The Silver Needle during their New Year's Eve sale. Not as much as I'd like to order but I asked for some SB kits, CCN and Bent Creek thread packs, along with a few things Mum wanted. I'll wait eagerly to see what turns up. :)

Yesterday I spent a good part of the day working more on Life And Liberty. I got a lot done on the pudgie. Just a bit of filling in on his top, and of course his head wouldn't go astray. Once I complete him along with the US flag there's not too much to go. So hopefully another finish and a first for 2009 is not too far away!

Three days of stitching

I've had a great Christmas break, having four days off work in all. I should have spent the time cleaning up around the house, but chose to stitch instead (a much better option). This is where I'm up to so far.

Life And Liberty - 28 December 2008

I'm onto the pudgie next which I'm sure I'll enjoy. Kath wanted to know if I was going to stitch an Australian flag instead of the American one. I'm going to stick to the American. Firstly I couldn't be bothered coming up with an Australian version (my laziness coming out there), and secondly I love anything Americana. Their patriotism is fantastic! I have a lot of American style country decorating items in my house, so anything along that theme fits in well.

I was back at work today but all I could think about was working of Life And Liberty. That would be much more productive, don't you think? I've only got three days at work this week then another four days off. Yippee!! Don't you love the holiday season? More opportunity to stitch!

A sheepie and birdie

I worked some more on Life And Liberty yesterday and am liking it so much. I managed to get the sheep done, then did the bird sitting on him, and some motifs.

Life And Liberty - 27 December 2008

I've been trying to change my template and am not having much luck. The one I'm wanting keeps coming up with an error message when I preview it, and the solutions they suggest don't work. I may have to go back to the one I had before with the buttons. So forgive me if you see weird things happening with my blog for the moment.

A start on Life And Liberty

I got my Life And Liberty kit out yesterday, after a bit of gardening in the morning. I didn't feel like doing much else apart from stitching, so I thought I'd indulge in my favourite past time. This is going to be so enjoyable I can tell.

SB Life And Liberty - started 26 December 2008

It's stitched on 32ct Antique Ivory linen with a mixture of beautiful silk threads (Au Ver a Soie, Gloriana, Thread Gatherer, and even a Soie Belle). I love the delicateness of stitching with one thread strand at a time. I'll look forward to posting my progress pics for this one. Next I'll work on the sheep. I love them, with their dark faces and legs. So cute!

Life And Liberty

I spent a lovely Christmas day yesterday with my family, and I hope everyone else had a wonderful day also. Thanks so much for your Christmas greetings, they were all well appreciated.

Now I'm wanting to get into another project and the one that's calling for me to do it is Life And Liberty by Shepherd's Bush. It's a bit bigger than the last two I stitched, but I hope not too big enough that it won't take me too long to complete. I like the idea of all the separate motifs, and of course the pudgie and sheep. It allows you to do as much or as little each time you stitch.
