Strawberry House - finally started!

After a lazy week, needlework wise, I've finally made a start on Strawberry House. I began yesterday by doing the border first (hoping I'm not out with my counting). It's not a very big piece, so I like the way the border frames the design as you work on the inner picture, in these smaller projects. Not a lot to show photo wise, at this early stage though.

LHN Strawberry House - started 12 September 2009

As mentioned in my last post, I'm doing this one on 30ct Creek Bed Brown by R & R. It's being worked with two threads over two.

I usually find it takes longer to start a new project. Working out the fabric you're going to use, finding the threads (sometimes you may substitute), counting out the start position if you're not working from the centre of a design, and so on. For this reason I don't always start something new straight after a finish. I've also been getting home from work lately feeling pretty tired, and not in the mood to be starting a new needlework pattern. Hopefully now that I've started though, I'll get into it a lot more.

Jane,
I also have this pattern in my stash but don't know when I'll get to it. It's a pretty little piece and I'm excited to see your progress on it. Your pictures are always so lovely.

What a nice new start. I'm a bit the same when it comes to starting a new piece. The choice of fabric always takes a long time , and even when I take one of my kitted pieces I often change the fabric I once prepared and choose another one.

I've got this piece in my stash, too. I love your choice of linen.

I agree with everything you've said about not immediately starting a new piece - I usually end up going through all my stash looking for the next chart to start, then again for the linen and the threads.

I sometimes think that I should kit up all my charts as soon as I buy them. Unfortunately, I'm not that organized!

As fast as you are with your needles, you will probably have this completed today. It is a sweet little piece and I love the colors.

Hi Jane!

I know what you mean about the time it takes to kit up something. That's why I try to kit up a few at a time, but then, like Brigitte said by the time I decide to stitch a certain project, I might've changed my mind about the linen.

Well, now you're off to a great start! You've got the border done! I don't always do the border first but often when I do finish a border I feel relieved that everything matched up!

What is it about work taking too much out of our life?!!! I hope now that you're started on your project that it will be a good stress reliever...and Spring is just around the corner for you!

Jane, you have had so many lovely finishes recently. You are really getting through a lot of stitching. I love the name of that thread - Caterpillar brown and those fat little Putford scissors are a favourite of mine.
