I'm Adoring this!

I did end up getting a little done on Adore last night. This pattern is so enjoyable, that I'm really happy I chose to do it next. Just had to show you some more pics. :)

More Adore

I was in the mood for stitching again last night. These smaller charts are better for me to handle just now. I really feel as though I'm getting somewhere in a short space of time. I ended up finishing the row of trees and houses.

Tonight I was chatting to friends and family on the phone, so no more progress on my stitching. Hopefully tomorrow night!

Adore

Well, I had a look through my stash and these were the choices I came up with for a new start.

All Shepherd's Bush kits - Adore, Rejoice, Jingle, and Come.

How I made my choice was by the fabric and thread colours, because I could have done any of them and been quite happy. Adore won and I got started on it today.

A Christmas finish

The weather's turned bad here. We've had more rain since I don't know when, and you'd think it was Winter rather than Summer. So I decided to take the opportunity and finish off Santa's Fill. Once you get into it, it's really a quick one to do. I find I don't get a lot achieved stitching at night, so I love the chance to stitch on a weekend during the daytime.

So what to stitch next... perhaps I should stick to these small projects for the moment. :) Maybe another Christmas one. I'll hunt around in my stash and see what I have. That in itself is a lot of fun.

An interruption I don't mind

I have some more progress to show you on Santa's Fill but it's not as much as I thought I would (again!). I was happily stitching away tonight thinking that I would get a decent amount done, then the phone rang. It was a friend I had worked with over ten years ago. She ended up moving to the country a good two to three hours away. We usually catch up with a call round Christmas/New Year time and find out what each of us have been doing throughout the year. We both end up laughing so much and talk as if we'd only chatted to each other recently. It's so good to catch up. So after about 1 1/2 hours or more talking to her, it got too late to continue with my stitching. It's an interruption I'm happy to have if it means catching up with a dear friend. So this is where I ended up with my progress...

Santa's Fill - 9 December 2008

The red thread is a Thread Gatherer variegated silk and I find it hard sometimes to decide which direction to take the colour variance. I suppose it doesn't matter because either way it gives it a unique look.

Today is my eldest cat's birthday, Sophie. She is eight years old and she just wanted to drop by and say hi and show a photo of her taken this morning.

It's Christmas time

I've had a busy weekend in all and today I would have got some stitching done except for the fact that I hadn't put any Christmas decorations up. So I thought I'd better solve that problem and decided to hang a wreath on my front door and put a Christmas tree up. Now, the tree is a small one. I do have a larger six foot tree, but haven't been bothered putting that up for a few years now. It takes all day to do it and it's too tempting for small pussy cats to play with. This smaller tree I've placed on top of my antique Singer sewing machine. Hopefully high enough away from the cats. It's starting to feel a bit more like Christmas now.

I'm going to save other people from being tagged so I'm not doing rule #4-6, sorry. So six things you may not know about me ~ let me think...

1. I procrastinate a lot which really annoys me at times. I tend to put things off for another day if I can - even my stitching!
2. My favourite type of holiday is a warm, tropical island somewhere (although you may have already guessed that, going by my last trip away).
3. I like buying DVDs and have quite a stash of them (romantic comedies are a fave).
4. I've been in the same job for 21 years.
5. My favourite colour is pink.
6. I love to sleep in.

So going by that, all in all you could say I'm a relaxed, stable, take it easy, with a bit of compulsive buying, type of gal. :)

It's looking like a stocking now

Although tired after getting home from work these nights, I managed to sit down and add some more to Santa's Fill. The previous picture I thought it was starting to look more like a pear, so I'm happy to show you another picture which makes it look like a Christmas stocking is being created.

The fabric that comes with the kit is a 32ct called Irish Creme. It's a colour I haven't stitched on before and I quite like it. Silk threads are used for it and three amethyst beads are included. I'll try to stitch a little more over the weekend.

It's been a while since I've been able to show a progress picture, but tonight I started something new. I thought I'd better try to get out of this slump and stitch a small piece that won't take too long. I admit I didn't get much done, but it's something.

This is a small shop exclusive kit from Shepherd's Bush. I ordered direct from them some time ago now and ended up getting quite a few of their exclusive kits. Since Christmas is around the corner I thought I'd look at what Christmas kits I had in my stash. This one looked a quick and easy stitch, which is what I'm needing at the moment.
