Waiting on that thread

There's a few missing parts in this piece, but until I receive the variegated thread not included with my kit, I'll just continue on my merry way.

Snow Patch - 24 July 2009

I really get so much enjoyment from stitching SB patterns. They feel so familiar to me. I guess that's why I gravitate towards them so much when choosing what to do next.

Laura wanted to know if when I use my hoop to stitch, whether it flattens the stitches. To tell you the truth I don't look at my stitching in that much detail. I also iron my fabric before I take any pictures of my progress but try not to iron too much over my needlework. So I'm sure it does get flattened a little along the way. Things done by hand don't have that perfect 'machine made' look, so this situation doesn't bother me. I've just always stitched with a hoop and am used to working this way. It's an interesting question though. I wonder whether anyone's found another way to stitch apart from in hand or using a hoop? I know there's scroll frames and the like, but is there another method that is a little less unknown? Please feel free to comment on what way works for you.

Until next time... thanks for dropping by!

My favorite way is Q-snaps and use my floor stand because it saves my shoulder from hurting alot. The Qsnaps don't leave as much markings. But your stitching looks flawless! Very, very pretty and neat.
Your scissors are neat too.

I, like you, use a hoop. I've tried in-hand but I have a little arthritis in my thumb so I can't hold the fabric for very long. I've tried Q-Snaps but don't like the "bulk" and I have a scroll frame but just don't feel "comfortable" when I'm stitching. I learned cross stitch using a hoop (0ver 30 years ago...YIKES) so I guess that's what works for me :) You're stitching is gorgeous and I love the patterns you choose.

Your stitching is absolutely gorgeous as usual! I learned using a hoop not quite 30 years ago (emphasis on the 'not quite'). I have tried all kinds of ways but gravitate now toward just stitching in hand unless the piece is too big then I try the scroll frame, but like you I find that isn't as comfortable.

I've been following your beautiful work for several weeks now and absolutely love the way you shoot your pictures. I use a scroll frame attached to a lap stand when stitching big projects and use a Q-snap for smaller ones. I like the scroll frame because it leaves no markers on the design area and frees both hands. And when I use the Q-snap, I simply put my feet up on the coffee table and sit the frame on my knees and stitch with both hands. Maybe you would like to try that with your hoops as well.
