A little more stitching

The next installment in my progress probably doesn't appear to be much, but there was more intricate work with one over one (wording and small heart) as well as a bit of frogging with the sheep. This all took more time than usual.

French Heart - 10 January 2009

What I enjoyed was the criss cross border beside the sheep. This is done in Old Lace thread and it's called a Woven Cross. Quite an easy stitch but you do have to concentrate.

The one over one stitching is always a challenge, especially when you do it at night! The wording was OK but the little heart above the word 'heart' wasn't my favourite to do. It was mostly done in the palest rose colour and was hard to see once you'd stitched it. The other colours, which created a flower, had to be placed inside it and was tough on the old eyes to find where they went. :) All of it was done in a Half Cross. Anyway, I managed to get it completed and then thought that was enough for the night. So that's where I left it.

Mum and Dad are dropping by today so I'll be able to show Mum what I've been stitching lately. I know she'll be interested in seeing French Heart. It's one she'd like to do one day too!

Your project is looking wonderful! I just discovered Shepherd's Bush patterns and have ordered a few of the small sheep kits already.

You've made great progress on that piece already, and the heart looks perfect. Not fond of over one myself but when it comes to the wording, I'd almost prefer doing the over one since it makes the letters stand out so nicely. French Heart is looking fabulous!

This is a pretty one Jane and you are very obviously enjoying it. I think some specialty stitches like that make a nice change and a bit of a challenge from just cross stitch don't they.

I'm so happy to see the lovely photos of the progress - and you've done loads! What do you mean 'not much'? I didn't realize it had so many special stitches in it - I'll have to remember that. Very beautiful!

I got your email and will post very soon (and reply of course)!

Lovely work. It's nice to see photos of your progress, which I think must take some time and work also.

I do love specialty stitches. They are what spice things up for me. I just did SB Busy Sheep. Only crosses on that little one but very cute. A little frustrated though with not having enough of one color in the kit. I did Beekeeper's Cottage and had plenty of thread, so this was a surprise.

Looking forward to seeing your progress!
